◐ Free or Fee

The short version. Free or Fee has no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. We do not collect, store or transmit anything about you or the pages you visit. Everything the extension works out, it works out on your own computer.

What the extension does

When you hold your chosen key and hover a link, Free or Fee fetches that link's page and reads its HTML to judge whether the destination is free, freemium, login-walled or paid. That judgement is made entirely inside your browser.

Network requests we make

The page you asked about. One request to the link you hovered, so we can read it. The result is cached in memory for six hours so the same link is not fetched twice.
Gumroad, only if you buy Pro. Your license key is sent to Gumroad's license-verification endpoint when you activate it, and again roughly every fourteen days to confirm it is still valid. Nothing else accompanies it.

There are no other network requests. There is no server belonging to us, because there is no server belonging to us.

Your cookies are never involved

The fetch is made by the extension's own background worker, not by you. Your cookies and login sessions are not attached to it, so the site you are checking cannot identify you from it.

What is stored, and where

Your settings: hold key, theme, hands-free and pin preferences. Stored by Chrome and synced across your own signed-in browsers. Never sent to us.
Your daily scan count: a number and a date, stored on the device, reset each day.
Your license key, if you have one, so you do not have to paste it again.
Scan history (a Pro feature): the last 50 sites you scanned, stored only on that device, capped and never transmitted. You can clear or export it from the settings page at any time.

What we never do

No analytics or telemetry of any kind.
No advertising, and no affiliate links.
No selling, sharing or brokering of data, because there is no data to sell.
No account, no email address, no sign-in.

Why the extension asks for access to all sites

Chrome requires broad host access because a link can point anywhere. The permission is used for one thing only: fetching the specific page you asked about, at the moment you ask about it. It is never used to read, monitor or record the pages you are browsing.

Payments

Pro is sold through Gumroad, who act as the seller and handle payment and tax. We never see your card details. Their privacy policy covers that transaction.

Children

Free or Fee is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the updated version appears at this address.
